Unicode fonts are recognised in the same way by all computers everywhere because each character in a Unicode font has a unique number assigned to it. Because of this unique code, computers will display the same symbol when reading the document as the writer intended when writing it. This is true no matter what kind of computer or operating system you use.

You can download Unicode fonts from SIL for free and the standard font used in SILESR style templates for online survey reports is DoulosSIL.
