Before you create a new page

  • check that the page does not exist by doing a search
  • check that the content you want to write would not be better within another existing page. Think particularly about whether there is enough need for a separate page for what you want to write. Think also about readers: would they be better off having that information alongside other related information in an existing page or on a single page that might be harder to find.

If you are sure you need to create a new page, you can do ONE of the following to create it:

LINKING SEARCHING
edit a page that is related to your new page topic, insert a wiki link using double square brackets around your new page title: [[New Page Title]]. Save the page. You will now have a red link to your new page. Clicking the red link will give you the edit page for your new content. Go ahead and enter your content, preview it, make sure it is fine, and then save it. OR search for your page title. SurveyWiki will not find a result but will ask you if you want to create a page and give you a link to do that. Click the link to go to the edit page for your new content. Go ahead and enter your content, preview it, make sure it is fine, and then save it. Be aware that if you use this method, your page will be an orphan: no other page will link to it. To avoid this, go to a page that has relevant content and create a link in that existing page to your new one.
